Account Enforcement and Appeals
This page explains what common enforcement actions mean, what access they affect, how duration is handled and when a private appeal is available. It does not replace the Terms of Service or Community Guidelines.
How decisions are handled
Core enforcement principles
Controlled account-status and restriction actions require an authorised staff actor and a recorded reason in the operational history.
Mythic Earth may withhold private evidence, another user’s information, security details or internal notes while still explaining the decision where practical.
An appeal decision and an account-status change are separate controlled actions. A granted appeal must still be followed by any required authorised restoration.

What each action means
Not every concern receives every stage. Urgent safety, security or serious-abuse cases may require immediate restriction, suspension or ban.
GuidanceA staff member explains the expected rule or safer way to continue.
- Effect
- No account access is normally removed. The conversation may still be recorded for operational history.
- Duration
- No fixed duration.
- Review route
- A formal enforcement appeal is not normally required. Ask for clarification through the relevant support conversation.
WarningThe account is told that identified conduct breached, or was likely to breach, an applicable rule.
- Effect
- The account may continue to operate unless a separate restriction, suspension or ban is also applied.
- Duration
- The warning remains part of the relevant moderation history. Repeated conduct may result in stronger action.
- Review route
- The notice should identify an available review route where a formal review is appropriate.
Feature restrictionAccess to a particular community function is limited while the rest of the account may remain available.
- Effect
- Examples include preventing Issue Council participation or commenting. Public reading and unrelated account tools may continue.
- Duration
- A restriction may have an expiry time or remain in place until authorised staff revoke it.
- Review route
- Use Contact Support to request clarification or review unless the notice provides another route.
SuspensionSign-in is temporarily blocked because of an enforcement, safety or security decision.
- Effect
- Existing public-account sessions are revoked. Public pages, password recovery, Contact Support and the controlled appeal route remain available.
- Duration
- A timed suspension ends at its recorded UTC expiry. An indefinite suspension requires an authorised status change.
- Review route
- A currently suspended account may submit one controlled private appeal for that enforcement action.
BanSign-in is blocked indefinitely because the account presents an unacceptable ongoing risk or serious rule violation.
- Effect
- Existing sessions are revoked and normal account participation stops. Creating another account to evade the ban may lead to related enforcement.
- Duration
- Indefinite unless authorised staff later change the account status following review.
- Review route
- A currently banned account may submit one controlled private appeal for that enforcement action.
Controlled private review
How an enforcement appeal works
- Use the affected account’s current email or username and password to verify ownership. This does not create a normal signed-in session.
- Explain why the decision may be wrong, what context was missed, whether the account was compromised and what evidence should be reviewed.
- One appeal record is accepted for the current suspension or ban. An existing pending appeal receives a refreshed private access link.
- Authorised staff review the private record and communicate the outcome through the appeal conversation and registered email address.
Submitting an appeal does not automatically pause, remove or shorten the original enforcement action.

Essential public and recovery routes
A suspended or banned user cannot create a normal public-account session, but the website preserves controlled routes needed to understand or challenge the decision.

Feature restrictions are narrower: they may block Issue Council or comment participation while leaving normal account sign-in available.
Reason and duration
What an enforcement notice should explain
Where practical and safe, an account notice or support response should identify the affected account state, the reason supplied, any expiry time, the rule or expectation involved and the review route available.
A timed suspension expires according to its recorded UTC timestamp. An indefinite suspension, ban or open-ended restriction remains until an authorised status action changes it.

Why some information may remain private
Appeal and moderation records may involve another user’s personal information, confidential reports, security-sensitive material or private staff notes. Mythic Earth may explain the outcome without exposing material that would create a privacy, safety, security or legal risk.
The affected user’s account-data export may include their status history, restrictions and public appeal outcome data, but it deliberately excludes private staff notes and private moderation evidence.
